#2 Good Lighting

Good lighting in a work from home work space is extremely important. Traditional office buildings have bright fluorescent lights that keep you “awake” and active. When we’re at home we rarely have the type of lights found in office spaces. We tend to forget that lighting is what keeps our eyes functioning. Without light we can’t see.

The best types of lights for a focused and energetic work from home set up, are overhead desk lamps, floor lamps by either side of your desk, or recessed lights above your desk. If you can get direct sunlight that is great as well, as long as it’s not directly shining into your eyes, or your monitor. Stay away from overly dark rooms as the harshness of a computer monitor can strain your eyes when there is no other light to balance it out!
